Below is the process for upgrading to 0.49: Drivers MAC: You are in luck! It seem like the correct driver is present without any additional action. The installed firmware is 0.48, however we could not get that version to talk to the 0.48 GUI. Mark managed to install 0.49 and that version talks to the GUI. If you are more interested in building and experimenting with different flight modes the Disco is a worthy machine, though fully equipped with radio, go pro and upgraded with the Naza v2 it will be more expensive than the Phantom.I got my controller board to work out of the box without a firmware upgrade. If your main interest is video I would recommend the Phantom 4 as a better out of the box experience. The Disco does allow "rate mode" flight, with no auto-leveling or stabilization, but that is not optimal for video and takes lots of practice to use. The Phantom 3 camera is nearly the same as a Go Pro, same sensor I think, but rectilinear lens rather than extreme wide angle. I can easily get over 20 minute flights on the Phantom 3, while the Disco averages 10-12 minutes. The Disco also does not have the flight time that the Phantom does.

The Disco Pro can do almost everything the Phantom can, but with considerably more manual intervention and setup required. It pretty much flies itself and the app/controller support all of the available flight modes and camera controls. The Phantom is, as you know, completely plug and play with the controller and iPad app very tightly integrated. I have both a Phantom 3 Professional and a Discovery Pro. So want to upgrade to something that I can stick with for a few years.
